Acquiring Diverse Talent in a Hybrid World - Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Exchange

Thanks to all who attended this exchange meeting, and a warm welcome to our new members. We are especially grateful for our new member leads, Alexandra Foster, Amelia Ransom, and Dele Downs Kooley, and our new i4cp champion, Lina Perez.

During this session, we looked at Acquiring Diverse Talent in a Hybrid World.

Top 4 things we explored.

  1. Recent voluntary attrition and hiring activity. Our poll in the meeting showed recent shifts, like i4cp’s research below.
  2. Recruit from non-traditional sources. Many organizations are establishing partnerships with groups to develop non-traditional talent pipelines. Check out Microsoft’s case study to support troops and fill the tech talent gap.

  3. Remove barriers to work. It’s important to invest in tools and resources that lead to a more diverse pool of talent. Many members mentioned a key to success is removing barriers to work through audit biases.

  4. Expand talent aperture. Our poll from the meeting showed that 91% of organizations are considering hybrid and flexible work and 66% are focusing on retention. Learn more from the Getting Hybrid Work Right Series.

Follow up questions we had:

Check out the Expert Network questions below to continue the discussion.

  1. Evidence for unconscious bias training. Is there statistical evidence that indicates unconscious bias training does result in eliminating hiring manager bias in hiring decision making? – Nabeel Ahmed, US Steel Corporation
  2. Success with diverse job boards. Has anyone had success with diverse job boards? Whether veteran, LGBTQ2+, ethnically diverse, etc.? Or what's the new wave of the future as the days of in person job fairs are somewhat behind us? – Sheri McGrath, Element Fleet Management Corp

i4cp's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Exchange will provide a secure venue for a wide range of peer practitioners to engage in thought-provoking and innovative discussions focused on best and next practices.

Co-facilitated by i4cp Member Leaders Alexandra Foster, VP of People Experiences at Kelly Services, Amelia Ransom, VP of DEI and Smartsheet, Inc., and Dele Downs Kooley, Senior HR Program Manager of Global Talent Acquisitions Excellence at Microsoft, the group will support D&I leaders to be a voice to executives, educate HRBPs to be allies and advocates, and develop supporting tools and playbooks to scale next practices.

This meeting is exclusively for members of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Exchange. If you'd like to participate, please contact us to see if you qualify. If you are an i4cp member, please log in to access the registration/meeting details.
