Video: Things to Know When Establishing Businesses in Asia

We were pleased to have John Warren speak at i4cp's 37th Annual Membership Conference earlier this year. In addition to his presentation, we were able to grab him for a short interview. Vice President of Worldwide Human Resources for ANADIGICS, Warren is a leading expert on establishing businesses in Asia as it relates to dealing with cultural differences and sensitivities.

Americans are typically regarded in Asian cultures as being direct and confrontational when it comes to business. There are many cultural idiosyncrasies that we do not generally consider, such as when a manager is younger than an employee in a culture that reveres age. When expanding into Asian countries, company leaders and human resources professionals need to take into account situations where cultures will clash in order to proactively address them.

Watch this behind-the-scenes discussion between Mary Key, Leadership Pillar Director for i4cp, and John Warren, titled “Establishing Businesses in Asia.”
