On Thursday, May 28, we held a flash call: Best and next practices in performance feedback. Research, best practices and solutions to common challenges in designing, giving and receiving feedback were topics of discussion.

Among the questions discussed:

· What is performance feedback and why is it so important - what does the research say?

· If it is so important - what is holding us back and what can we do to overcome barriers?

· What skills are required to both give and receive performance feedback?

· Are different groups affected differently by performance feedback (millennials, middle management, executives)?

· How to use "feed-forward" and how to "make a positive difference" (from Marshall Goldsmith).

· How to overcome bias in the feedback process.

· What training and learning experiences have worked to improve feedback processes?

· What about 360 feedback? Does it work? What conditions need to happen first?

· How do we drive more objective, data based feedback?

· What about candid feedback, how do we get and give more of it?

· How do we develop a true "feedback rich team culture"?
