The two R’s (Risk and Readiness) and Two C’s (Capability and Culture)

Thanks to all who participated in our CHRO Board in January.  Below, please find brief descriptions and links to the three featured discussions.

Also, please note that our next Board meeting is March 23rd in Scottsdale, AZ. This will be the first of two in-person i4cp CHRO Board meetings in 2020. Please mark your calendar and have your EA contact Marianne Menta ASAP to ensure your reservation at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess resort. Rooms are scarce!

  • Talent Risk Management: Jacqueline Welch (CHRO and Chief Diversity Officer at Freddie Mac) discussed the process she and her team use, in collaboration with their Risk Management function, on talent risk.  Jacqueline talked about their recent voluntary early retirement program (VERP) and how they approached this by looking at role/skills/people, in that order. She also talked through the move from workforce planning to workforce shaping, and how she and her team work with the Risk Management team to understand potential issues based on which employees volunteered to accept the offer to retire. Here is the spreadsheet used by Jacqueline and her team, along with an i4cp infographic on workforce planning from i4cp:

Organizational Agility: At the request of this Board, i4cp co-founder and futurist Jay Jamrog presented findings from an environmental scan he conducted on credible research on the topic of organizational agility. The PowerPoint below outlines the various models and compares these insights to i4cp’s research on this topic.

New i4cp Research: i4cp chief research officer Kevin Martin provided an early look into the latest i4cp research on Well-Being and Culture Metrics following a series of conversations with F500 corporate board members and CHRO’s over the past year. His presentation is here:

We also welcomed two new Board members:
