Chief Learning & Talent Officer Board In-Person Meeting

We had a great September meeting at EY in New York.  As I am sure you will agree, the most important agenda item was our round table discussion where each of you shareed an update.  Each shared with their peers:

  1. The biggest issue facing your company right now.
  2. The biggest issue/initiative that you are working on as you lead your team (if that is different from #1.)
  3. Your team’s most recent major accomplishment.

Here are some meeting highlights:

  • ROUND TABLE DISCUSSION:  Each member updated on the biggest issues facing their organization and major initiatives they are leading.
  • THE EY PEOPLE STORY: Brenda Sugrue reviewed EY’s “People Manifesto” and their commitment to the employee value proposition.
  • RESEARCH FIRST LOOK: Kevin Oakes reviewed the latest i4cp research on the factors that drive or inhibit collaboration in organizations.
  • Booze-Allen CASE: Our guest, Aimee George shared the work her team did on Innovation in People Practices and the measurable results that won BAH’s top award.
  • Philipp Schmidt, Director of Learning Innovation, MIT Media Lab, talked with us about the implications of blockchain in corporate development.
  • MEMBER CASE: Karen Kocher shared the story of the transformation of the development function at Cigna.
  • RESEARCH INPUT: Kevin Martin reviewed i4cp’s planned research on “The Expanding Role of the Chief Talent Development Officer: from Learning Expert to Human Capital Leader” and will take direction from the Board on what should be included in the study.
