Culture Transformation

We just completed a very engaging and informative meeting about Culture Transformation  at ICM Partners in Los Angeles. Once again, a big “thank you” to Cindy Ballard and her team for their very generous and first-class hospitality.

Here is a quick summary of our October 2-3 meeting:

  • Joe Whittinghill shared Microsoft’s approach to its culture transformation and the focus it has placed on the company’s top leadership in this transformation. Microsoft's Culture Transformation
  • Chris Silbermann (CEO) and Cindy Ballard gave an overview of ICM Partners, its history and philosophy in representing celebrity talent, the Culture ICM now has and how it was established, as well as insight into their impressive apprenticeship program.
  • Kevin Martin presented a model of i4cp’s empirical view of Transformation + the Connection Points to i4cp Research, integrating the 5 domains of the people profit chain with recent research on the practices of high-performance organizations.   Transformation + the Connection Points to i4cp Research
  • Kevin Oakes reviewed recent i4cp research on corporate activism and facilitated a discussion on how companies determine where to involve themselves.   Corporate Activism
  • Dean Carter reviewed the approach he and the leadership team at Patagonia use to strengthen, reinforce, and sustain their culture – as well as their CEO’s philosophy to only take a stance on policies that relate to their key values.
  • We finished with a discussion led by Kevin Martin on our upcoming study on the leadership (and HR) actions the drive culture transformation. The survey will go live on Oct 24. Please be sure to complete the survey yourself and do your best to get other CHRO’s in your network to complete the survey as well. This study is incredibly timely and will surely reveal best and next-practices that will help all your organizations as they undergo their own transformations.

Please also remember we have a Board call on December 6 th at 8:00 PT/ 11:00 ET. During that call, we will get a first look at the culture survey data. In addition, CHRO Board member Jennifer Landis (Black Hills Energy) will talk about the recent ONA work she and her team have recently completed.

Any questions, please let us know.

All the best.

Kurt Fischer
