CHRO Priorities for 2020

Thanks to all who contributed in our CHRO Board call on Friday, December 6 th.  Here is a summary of what was covered: 

CHRO Board Priorities for 2020:

  1. Talent – In this discussion, we agreed to highlight the following areas in 2020:
    1. More insight and perspective around Mergers and Acquisitions.
    2. Determining the best measures for talent.
    3. Anticipate/Forecast global supply of talent.
    4. Insights into what companies are doing to accelerate the development of high-potentials, as well as develop leaders on a mass scale.
    5. How to have the best conversation with the Board on what capabilities will be needed for the next generation of leaders.
    6. Criteria for successor readiness, and how that criteria is changing.
  2. Culture – In this portion of the discussion, we will focus on the following areas in 2020:
    1. What companies have done successfully to become more agile / proactive.
    2. Insights into environments with competing cultures to identify, articulate and harmonize them.
  3. Latest version of the Culture dashboard for boards:
    1. Continued insights into what Board of Directors are expecting related to ‘culture’ insights and metrics.
    2. We reviewed the latest draft of the i4cp Culture dashboard. A new version will be available to preview on our January 24, 2020 board call.
  4. Evaluating the performance of the CHRO:
    1. We discussed how a CHRO should be measured and evaluated, based on what the expected value-add from the role is.
    2. Readiness of the organization to implement strategy is another measure.
    3. There is interest among the Board in exploring this topic in further depth, which we will do in 2020.

Please note that our first Board call in 2020 is on January 24 th (starts at 8am PT/11:00 ET) and our first in-person meeting in 2020 is March 23 rd in Scottsdale, AZ.
